Salary: $64,000, based on an 11-month work calendar aligned to the Pecan Valley STEM Academy calendar and schedule.

A&M San Antonio’s Institute for School and Community Partnerships (ISCP) is a model institute partnering with the Texas A&M University at San Antonio and area organizations.  The mission of the ISCP is to transform students through innovative practices, research, and policy.  The ISCP’s model includes school system transformation, improving services to children for early intervention, and PK-12 district partnerships that prepare students for college and high-demand careers.  The ISCP is a hub of excellence for understanding and impacting child and youth development through innovative student-centered approaches, career-ready models, student-led research, and high-demand workforce opportunities for all students.

Driving Possibilities a collaborative initiative of The Toyota USA Foundation that involves the ISCP, East Central Independent School District (ECISD), and the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County (UWSA). Working through the ISCP, which is the nonprofit coordinator of the project, Driving Possibilities seeks to provide high-quality STEM education for children in San Antonio and to provide services and resources that address community-wide basic needs that assist children and their families.

Position Overview:
The Driving Possibilities STEM Facilitator will serve as a key leader in advancing the goals of the Toyota USA Foundation’s Driving Possibilities initiative in partnership with ECISD and the San Antonio community. This role requires a strategic, community-focused leader with a strong background in public education, STEM program development, and innovative partnership building. The STEM Facilitator is an employee of the ISCP and will coordinate across schools, industry, higher education, and community organizations to create a sustainable ecosystem that supports student success from early learning through career pathways. The STEM Facilitator will be based at Pecan Valley STEM Academy, and work schedules will be coordinated to align with the campus calendar and daily schedule to ensure ongoing support for staff during instructional hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to plan STEM integration with classroom practice across disciplines.
  • Work with Driving Possibilities partners and campus leaders to fully develop and implement STEM research-based tools and professional development.
  • Collaborate with all members of the instructional team, including teachers in core subjects and the STEM Specials Teacher, to ensure a consistent, rigorous and equitable educational experience across the school in STEM education.
  • Supports teachers, provides feedback to teachers and provides professional development in STEM knowledge, STEM-specific pedagogy, differentiated instruction, effective teaching strategies, research-based instructional materials, and TEKS.
  • May guide and facilitate grade-level or subject area teams in PLCs.
  • Works with teachers, coaches, teacher leaders and campus leadership modeling evidence-based instructional strategies and technology integration observing instruction and facilitating reflective practices to promote student learning outcomes.
  • Provides support for the use and analysis of formative and summative assessments on student achievement to inform instruction.
  • Coordinates with Driving Possibilities partners, campus leaders, and the STEM Specials Teacher to secure and manage equipment, supplies, and materials for Driving Possibilities STEM programs.
  • Assist the Driving Possibilities Project Director to collect, compile and disseminate data on student achievement in STEM.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related STEM field; master’s degree in education or related STEM field preferred.
  • Knowledge of STEM and Career and Technical Education (CATE) pathway alignment in K-12.
  • Minimum of three years of successful K–12 classroom teaching experience in a STEM discipline (e.g., science, mathematics, engineering, or technology).
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality professional development and instructional coaching to adult learners in K–12 settings in STEM disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or implementing curriculum aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), with a focus on real-world STEM applications.
  • Advanced understanding and use of instructional technology to support learning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Valid Texas teaching certification in a STEM discipline
  • Proficient in data collection, ensuring accurate and timely gathering of relevant information to support the project.
  • Deep understanding of the San Antonio community, ECISD, and its education and workforce landscape.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills a plus.
